Editorial Methodology

This page explains exactly how LuxiIPTV produces its guides and reviews. You'll see how we research, what "hands-on" means to us, how often we update, how we handle mistakes, and how we keep recommendations independent of who pays us. If you ever wonder "can I trust this recommendation?", this is the page that answers it.

What we cover (and what we never will)

We cover legal streaming only. That means streaming devices (Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Google TV, Nvidia Shield), licensed services (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Sling, YouTube TV, Fubo, Peacock, Tubi, Pluto TV), over-the-air antennas, deals on legitimate hardware and subscriptions, VPNs for privacy and security, and streaming news.

We never publish instructions for accessing copyrighted content without paying. We never recommend unlicensed services. When a popular product turns out to be unlicensed or unsafe, we report that honestly and point readers to legal alternatives instead.

How do we research a guide?

We start from primary sources, then verify everything before it reaches you. We read official specs, pricing pages, support docs, and the company's own terms. Then we cross-check claims against independent sources and our own measurements, so you get facts rather than marketing copy.

  • We start from primary sources: official product specs, service pricing pages, support documentation, and the company's own terms.
  • We cross-check claims against multiple independent sources and our own measurements rather than repeating marketing copy.
  • We track pricing and channel lineups directly from providers, because these change often.
  • We note the date of every price and feature claim so you know how fresh it is.

What's the difference between hands-on and research-based?

Hands-on means we used the product ourselves; research-based means we verified it without testing it. We're transparent about which one applies to every article. We never imply we tested something we didn't, so you always know how much direct experience sits behind a recommendation.

  • Hands-on: We buy or borrow the device and set it up on real home networks. For streaming boxes we measure setup time, app launch speed, 4K/HDR playback, remote responsiveness, and stability over days of use. For services we hold a paying subscription and test live TV, on-demand, DVR, simultaneous streams, and the cancellation process. These articles are labeled hands-on.
  • Research-based: When we haven't personally tested something, such as a brand-new device we haven't received, we say so clearly. We base the coverage on verified specs, official documentation, and credible reporting.

How we score and rank products

Rankings are built on merit, never on commission. We score real-world performance, value for money, ease of setup, content and feature availability, privacy, and reliability. Commission rates play no part in scoring, so the highest-paying product never wins by default.

We routinely recommend free tools, cheaper options, and products that pay us nothing when they're genuinely the best pick. We'll also tell you when the "best" product for most people isn't the one we'd personally buy. You can review the full money side on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

How often do we update our content?

We update on a fixed cadence and whenever something changes. Pricing moves fast, so we review it monthly, while bigger guides get a quarterly check. Every substantively updated article shows a visible "Last updated" date, so you can judge how current it is at a glance.

  • Pricing and deals: reviewed at least monthly, and as soon as we learn of a change.
  • "Best of" roundups and buying guides: reviewed at least quarterly, and whenever a major new device or service launches.
  • How-to guides: checked whenever the underlying app or device interface changes.
  • Every substantively updated article shows a visible "Last updated" date so you know how current it is.

What happens when we get something wrong?

We fix mistakes openly, and we never hide them. If you spot an error, like an outdated price, a wrong spec, or a broken step, tell us through our Contact page. We verify it, correct the article promptly, and add a dated note for any material change. We don't silently rewrite history to cover up errors.

How do we stay independent of advertisers?

LuxiIPTV is reader-supported and earns affiliate commissions, which we disclose in full. No brand can pay for a higher ranking, a better score, or kinder coverage. Editorial decisions are made independently of any advertiser, affiliate partner, or commission rate. Our pledge is simple:

  • Editorial decisions are made independently of any advertiser, affiliate partner, or commission rate.
  • No brand can pay for a higher ranking, a better score, or favorable coverage.
  • We accept review units when offered, but disclose or return them per FTC guidance. A loaned unit never buys a kinder review.
  • Sponsored content, if we ever publish it, will be clearly labeled and kept separate from our editorial reviews.
